There is a war going on for the soul of campfire music, and it's high time somebody stood up to defend it. This is our mission. We are the Virtual Campfire, and we play Campfire Music. Mostly to campers, in campgrounds, who are out camping. But occasionally we step out to spread the message of campfire music to the masses, as one must do when one is defending such a thing. This album is the first salvo in the war to save campfire music. It will not die on our watch! That is our solemn pledge. We have no illusions that the war will be easy, and we expect it to last a long time, at least three albums plus maybe an EP.

Since humans first discovered fire, there has been campfire music. It is music found blowing in the redwood trees, hiding behind old rocks, in pools of shallow waters where mosquitos thrive, and rushing helplessly down river and over waterfalls in a barrel.

With voice, guitar, banjo, bass, cajon, harmonica, melodica, mandolin and accordion, we shall restore campfire music to its former glory. ... more
